Univ. of Houston volleyball players appear in video laughing about a 1935 lynching

At least two University of Houston volleyball players are in hot water after sharing a video of themselves on social media laughing and mocking an infamous 1935 lynching of two Black teenagers.  According to the university newspaper, The Daily Cougar, the video appeared to have been filmed by Ryleigh Whitekettle, a freshman volleyball player, and shared on Snapchat. In it are volleyball players Isabel Theut and Abbie Jackson. The caption reads, “This is the hanging tree where we used to hang people.” The tree is in Columbus, Texas, which is Theut’s hometown.  Within a day of being posted, the clip had been viewed more than 14,000 times and was shared on TikTok by a football player at the University of Miami, where it was viewed more than 54,000 times before being deleted.  Other members of University if Houston’s athletic community condemned the video, commenting about it on Twitter. “Pretty disingenuous by these two,” tweeted UH football quarterback Ike Ogbogu, who also shared a photo

Man Utd are in a battle to get back into the Champions League for next season and Ralf Rangnick has admitted that could have an impact this summer. Ralf Rangnick has admitted Manchester United might find it harder to attract players this summer if they do not secure a return to the Champions League. United still have two routes available back into Europe premier competition , but their path back to the elite is by no means guaranteed after a bruising season. MLB Players React After League Postpones 2022 Opening Day

The MLB and MLBPA failed to agree to a new CBA before the league's self-imposed deadline Tuesday, For the first time in over a quarter century, the MLB will miss games over a work stoppage. The league and its players' association failed to reach an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement before the MLB's self-imposed deadline on Tuesday, and MLB then announced the postponement of 2022 Opening Day. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said the season's first two series would be canceled in a press conference moments after the 5 p.m. ET deadline.  This comes after the MLB and MLBPA met daily in Jupiter, Florida for the past nine days. The sides spent 16 hours together at Roger Dean Stadium on Monday, their original deadline day, but couldn't hammer out a deal that day or the next.
