Five New Cast 'The Continental' John Wick Series

 A new lineup of stars will be checking into the John Wick prequel series The Continental., Katie McGrath (Supergirl), Ray McKinnon (Rectify) Adam Shapiro (Never Have I Ever), Mark Musashi (Fear of the Walking Dead) and Marina Mazepa (Malignant) have been cast opposite Colin Woodell and Mel Gibson in Starz’s The Continental.


The prequel to the Keanu Reeves film series John Wick. The Continental will be presented as a three-night special-event TV series, produced for Starz by Lionsgate Television. The Continental will serve as a prequel special to the John Wick blockbuster film franchise. Starring Hollywood good-guy Keanu Reeves, the base films follow a highly trained assassin on a mission to find those who killed his beloved dog and hold them responsible. During the titular character’s travels, viewers are taken to the Continental Hotel, a safe haven for assassins to get a good night’s rest. Run by the hotel’s owner, Winston (Ian McShane) the only rule inside the walls is no killing.



Producers Greg Coolidge (Wayne, Ride Along) and Kirk Ward (Wayne) are writing the event series and serve as showrunners. Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, Chad Stahelski, Derek Kolstad, David Leitch, Shawn Simmons, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will also serve as executive producers.


McGrath recently wrapped filming the role of Lena Luther in the CW’s Supergirl. Her other TV credits include Dracula and BBC’s Merlin. On the film side, she has been seen in Jurassic World and in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of The Sword. McGrath is repped by A3 Artists Agency and Hamilton Hodell in the UK.


McKinnon is best known as the creator of the Peabody Award-winning series Rectify. As an actor, he has appeared in FX’s Sons of Anarchy in the role of Lincoln Potter, and in a reprisal of the role in FX’s Mayans MC. He recently wrapped the Fox limited series Dopesick.


1. Katie McGrath


Katie McGrath has booked her first post-Supergirl role: The actress will co-star in Starz’s forthcoming John Wick prequel series The Continental as The Adjudicator, our sister site Deadline reports.


Produced by Lionsgate Television, the three-night event takes John Wick fans back to 1975 New York City, where a young criminal named Winston Scott (The Flight Attendant‘s Colin Woodell) navigates the city’s nefarious underbelly in an attempt to take control of The Continental, a notorious hangout for all manner of ne’er-do-wells.


2. Ray McKinnon


McKinnon is best known as the creator of the Peabody Award-winning series Rectify. As an actor, he has appeared in FX’s Sons of Anarchy in the role of Lincoln Potter, and in a reprisal of the role in FX’s Mayans MC. He recently wrapped the Fox limited series Dopesick.


3. Mark Musashi


Musashi began his career as a member of the Tokyo-based AAC Stunts. His television credits include Fear of the Walking Dead, Iron Fist and The Last Ship.


4. Marina Mazepa


Mazepa’s film credits include Malignant and The Unholy and a recurring role in The Girl In The Woods, which is streaming on Peacock. Mazepa is also a contortionist who recently appeared on Malignant and was featured on NBC's America's Got Talent in 2019.


5. Colin Woodell


Stepping into the loafers of Winston Scott is Colin Woodell (Unfriended: Dark Web). He’ll play Winston without all the power he’s accumulated since his ascent.


Shapiro’s credits include the role of Mr. Shapiro in Mindy Kaling’s Netflix series Never Have I Ever. On the film side, he was most recently seen in Mank.


Musashi began his career as a member of the Tokyo-based AAC Stunts. His television credits include Fear of the Walking Dead, Iron Fist and The Last Ship.


Mazepa’s film credits include Malignant and The Unholy and a recurring role in The Girl In The Woods, which is streaming on Peacock.


The role of Lemmy went to Shapiro. Previously, Shapiro has been featured in Mindy Kaling and Netflix’s Never Have I Ever as well as the film drama, Mank. Finally, Musashi and Mazepa will portray Hansel and Gretel, two High Table assassins. A celebrated stuntman, Musashi is sure to bring his skills which he honed in on at Tokyo’s AAC Stunts to the limited series. The actor’s background in television includes stunt spots on Fear the Walking Dead and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Mazepa most recently appeared in the thriller series, The Girl In The Woods, which aired its first season in 2021 and is currently streaming on Peacock. She has also appeared in Malignant and The Unholy.


The Continental is being penned by Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward who also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Chad Stahelski, Derek Kolstad, David Leitch, Shawn Simmons, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese will also executive produce alongside Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.
